HOW TO INSTALL THE PRESTON SOFTWARE

First a note about using Preston’s Guide software:
When you purchase the Preston’s Guide CD-ROM you receive a license allowing you to install and use the software contained on it. The license specifies that the software must be copied onto and operated from your pc’s hard drive; but may only be operated on one pc at any given time. We have attractively priced multiple copies of the CD-ROM software to accommodate businesses where more than one person needs to access the data software on a frequent basis. Preston’s Guide software is a self-running database of 520,000 records.

PC requirements;

Windows

* Pentium 300MHz or higher
* 256MB of RAM
* CD or DVD drive and hard disk drive
* SVGA (800 x 600) or higher resolution video adapter and display
* Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4), Windows XP (Service Pack 2)

Macintosh
* Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G3, G4 or G5 processor or Intel processor
* 256MB of RAM
* CD or DVD drive and hard disk drive with 250MB free space
* Mac OS 10.3.2 or later for PowerPC-based Macs or Mac OS 10.4.5 for Intel-based Macs

Installing Updated Edition

When installing a Preston's Guide updated CD-Rom, either:
A.) trash all files in the folder (none will be needed for the update) OR
B.) set up a new folder and clearly name it for the 2005 edition..

How to install the Preston’s Guide CD-ROM software

MACINTOSH users simply drag-copy the entire folder and its contents to their hard disk.

WINDOWS users must; a.) select on the three files (two .pdfs and one compressed "zip" file) and choose "Edit/Copy"; b.) go to the folder where Preston's is going to reside on the hard disk and choose "Edit/Paste" and; c.) select on the Preston's compressed file and choose "File/Open". The file will expand into a folder with 50+ files in it. To operate Preston's Guide on Mac or Windows just double-click on the Preston's icon
Or
select on the Preston’s icon and choose “Run” on Windows or “Open” on Macintosh.
